Girl Scout Mariners and Trailblazers

Girl Scout Mariners and Trailblazers

This could be the greatest comeback of all time! The Mariner and Trailblazer programs have been a part of Girl Scouts’ bold history since as early as 1934 and we are excited for girls to experience this revitalization.

The Girl Scout Trailblazer Program is designed for Girl Scouts in grades 8 through 12 who are looking for an opportunity to engage deeply in high-adventure outdoor activities in a broad range of modalities, geographies, and climates. Trailblazers will participate in a comprehensive land-based outdoor experience including tree climbing, rock climbing, backpacking, hiking, caving, snow-shoeing, dog-sledding, career exploration and much more.

The Girl Scout Mariner Program is designed for Girl Scouts in grades 8 through 12 who are looking for an opportunity to engage deeply in water-focused activities. As Mariners, girls will participate in activities including scuba certification, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding, surfing, swimming, career exploration and much more.

Introduction to Trailblazers

Join us as we introduce our newest Trefoil Group Adventure for our older Girl Scouts that are looking for more outdoor adventure! This program is an introduction to the Trailblazer program and does not qualify you to receive the Trailblazer Membership Pin, but rather introduces you to some of the experiences that you will have as a Trailblazer should you decide to continue join our Trailblazer troop. This program is a hybrid virtual and in-person program, meeting 2x/week for four (4) successive weeks. During this program, girls will explore rock-climbing & repelling, mountain biking, wilderness survival skills and target sports. Girls must be able to ride a bike to participate in this program; however, you do not need to own a mountain bike. It is preferred that girls provide their own helmet, but one will be provided if necessary.

Fee: $225.00

Wednesdays, September 9, 16, 23, 30, 2020, 4-5, Virtual

Saturdays, September, 12, 20, 26, 27, 2020, 10-2, In-Person at various locations around council depending upon group assignment and activity.

These camps are designed to accommodate 6-8 girls in-person at a time, giving girls the opportunity to explore each activity in-depth, while maintaining social distancing.

Upon arrival at each in-person activity, girls will be required to wash their hands, certify that they have complied with proper social distancing guidelines, and have not been in contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with, has symptoms of, or has tested positive for, COVID-19. Additionally, girls will be required to wear masks, frequently wash or disinfect their hands, and may not share food, water bottles, or equipment.

After camp, girls may become members of the Mariner or Trailblazer Troop and their Traditional Troop. Girls may also participate in the Mariner or Trailblazer Troop without belonging to a Traditional Troop.

Additional information coming in August!
