Summer Sleepaway Camp Registration Opens in November!

Get ready for your best summer yet! Registration for 2027 Sleepaway Camp opens November 24 and the Summer Sleepaway Camp Guide will be available soon.

We’re happy to announce that day trips are back! Mini Camp and Family Camp options are also available. Register between November 24 and January 1, 2027, to save $50 on a camp session.

Each Camp Conowingo program has a theme, giving campers the chance to explore activities connected to something they’re interested in. But their program theme is only part of their camp experience! Campers will also enjoy traditional camp activities and have opportunities to make choices throughout the week, helping shape their experience based on their interests.

*Activities are offered using an age-appropriate, progression-based approach and in accordance with Girl Scouts Safety Activity Checkpoints. Activity offerings vary by program, age, availability, and weather, and campers may not participate in every activity during their session.

Aqua-Adventurers:

Make a splash and discover all that camp’s waters have to offer! Spend extra time boating, explore the plants and animals that call Conowingo Creek home, and get funky with water-inspired art and activities.

S’more Fun:

Get ready for a week packed with classic camp fun! Go boating, make a splash at the pool, explore nature, try archery, and make plenty of memories along the way.

Artrageous:

Get hands-on with all kinds of art! Experiment with clay, paint, markers, found objects, and more. You name it—we’ll make art with it!

Wild Things:

Get wild and explore the natural side of camp! Search for animal tracks, discover hidden habitats, investigate creepy crawlies, and get hands-on with the plants and animals that call camp home.

**Think Outside*:**

Get curious, get creative, and put your problemsolving skills to the test! Tackle hands-on challenges, experiment, and explore before taking a day trip to Washington, D.C. to visit Planet Word and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.

DIY Designers:

Bring your creativity to life with trendy crafts and DIYs! Create clay trinkets, make one-of-a-kind upcycled décor, and explore plenty of other projects that let your personal style shine.

Adventure Seekers:

Calling all adventurers! Spend the week exploring camp, reaching new heights at the rockwall, and trying some of our most exciting activities.

Wonders of Water:

Water is everywhere—and the possibilities are endless! Experiment with water-based STEM, get soaked with water games, explore water in nature, and discover H2O in a whole new way.

Night Owls:

Stay up late and experience a whole new side of camp! Enjoy a night hike, stargazing, campfires, late-night fun, and spend a night sleeping under the stars!

**H2Woah!*:**

Dive into a week of water-filled adventure! Creek hike, go boating, create water-inspired crafts, and take a trip to Guppy Gulch for a day of swimming and fun.

Survival Showdown:

Put your outdoor skills to the test in the ultimate camp challenge! Campers will work in teams to take on Survivor-inspired competitions featuring fire building, shelter building, navigation, campcraft, and plenty of unexpected challenges along the way.

**From Scratch*:**

Slow things down and discover the satisfaction of making something yourself! Try baking, traditional skills, and hands-on projects, then take a day trip to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to explore local food, farms, and craftsmanship.

MORE WAYS TO EXPERIENCE CAMP

Mini Camp

August 8–11, 2027 | $400

Ready to give overnight camp a try? Mini Camp is a shorter stay designed for campers who want a taste of the Camp Conowingo experience! Campers will make new friends, enjoy classic camp activities, and build confidence and independence while spending a few nights away from home.

Mini Camp is a great introduction to overnight camp for first-time campers entering 2nd through 8th grade in the 2027-2028 school year—or anyone who isn’t quite ready for a full week away.

Family Camp

August 14–15, 2027 | $65 per participant

Camp isn’t just for kids! Bring the whole family to Camp Conowingo for an overnight adventure packed with classic camp fun. Take aim at the archery range, get out on the water for boating, cool off in the pool, explore camp, and enjoy even more activities together.

After a full day of adventure, gather around the campfire for songs, s’mores, and a classic Conowingo evening. Whether it’s your family’s first camp experience or you’re already outdoor enthusiasts, Family Camp is a chance to unplug, try something new, and make memories together. For families with a camper entering 2nd through 11th grade in the 2027–2028 school year.

Couselor-in-Training (CIT)

Ready to take the next step at camp? Camp Conowingo’s CIT program gives older campers the opportunity to build leadership skills, learn what it takes to be a camp counselor, and gain hands-on experience working with younger campers.

CIT participants complete an application and interview before being accepted into the program. Applications close March 31. To learn more and receive an application, contact membercare@gscm.org.

Counselor in Training I (CIT I) toggle arrow

CIT 1 — Sessions 1 & 2

Entering Grade 10 & Up | $500

CIT 1 introduces campers to the skills and responsibilities of being a camp counselor. Participants will observe and assist camp staff, learn how to engage campers of different ages, lead songs, games, and group activities, and practice being positive role models for younger campers.

CIT 2 — Sessions 3 & 4

Entering Grade 11 & Up | $500

CIT 1 Required

CIT 2 builds on the skills developed in CIT 1 with more opportunities to put leadership into action. Participants will plan and lead activities for younger campers, complete a service project, assist camp staff with daily routines, and practice group management, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.

Get to Know Camp

Curious about sleepaway camp but not sure what to expect? "Get to Know Camp Conowingo" is your chance to learn what a summer at camp is really like! Campers and their families can hear about a typical day at camp: activities, meals, sleeping arrangements, making friends, our camp staff, and everything else that makes Camp Conowingo special.

Bring your questions, meet a member of our camp team, and find out if a Camp Conowingo adventure is right for your family. At our in-person sessions, Girl Scouts can also make a Camp Conowingo craft and take home a little camp spirit! Click link to register.

Come experience Camp Conowingo before summer begins! Campers and their families or caregivers are invited to explore camp, tour our living and activity spaces, meet our Outdoor Experience Director, and get a taste of camp with fun, hands-on activities. Whether your camper is already registered for summer camp or your family is still considering a Camp Conowingo adventure, Open House is a great opportunity to see camp in person, ask questions, and help your camper feel comfortable and excited about the summer ahead.
