GSCM offers a range of courses to help prepare and train you in your role as a Girl Scout Volunteer.  Our goal is to provide girls with the best possible program in a safe environment and to provide adult volunteers with the training necessary to ensure excellent programming for our girls and their safety.  To do that, we require Girl Scout Leaders and Advisors to complete required training within six months of their appointment.  

Access our Adult Learning webpage HERE to learn more about required and enrichment training for ALL volunteers as well as specific volunteer roles.  We invite you to visit our GSCM Event Calendar often to find added trainings throughout the year!

gsLearn: All registered volunteers have access to gsLearn…our digital learning management system. Here you will find almost 100 courses on various topics in your gsLearn Learning Library.  The courses range from a few minutes to half an hour.  To get started, access your gsLearn account through MyGS.  Once you activate your account, it will take about 30 minutes for you to fully access the library. If you have any issues, contact us at membercare@gscm.org.

Volunteer Appreciation & Recognition

Volunteers appreciate special, enduring thanks for their efforts.  Girl Scout volunteers are the lifeblood of the Girl Scout Movement.  They give selflessly of their time and talents to help build girls of courage, confidence, and character.  Whether they serve directly or indirectly with girls, the efforts of Girl Scout volunteers leave a lasting impression on both the girls and other adult volunteers.

Additional Insurance: All registered Girl Scout members and adults are covered by secondary accident insurance while participating in Girl Scout activities.  This basic accident insurance plan includes non-member participation and overnight trips lasting longer than two (2) nights without a time limit. 

This means that you do NOT need to purchase additional insurance for any person who is registered for the event or activity but is not of an age level to participate/non-member adults participating in Girl Scout activities or for domestic trips lasting longer than two nights. However, for trips outside the continental USA, additional insurance must be purchased.

Requesting a Certificate of Insurance (COI): Some outside organizations or vendors through which a troop or service unit rents/uses their facility may require a copy of Girl Scouts of Central Maryland’s certificate of insurance.

For the Gold Award, Girl Scouts from our council and all Girl Scout councils utilize the Girl Scout go gold portal to submit and manage their project. Click HERE to access the portal.

Troop and Service Unit special events and money-earning activities require pre-approval from GSCM staff prior to advertisement or execution of the event/activity.  All contracts are to be reviewed and signed by the CEO of Girl Scouts of Central Maryland and can be emailed to membercare@gscm.org
