Girl Scouts of Central Maryland Elect a New Board of Directors

Board Prepares for Next Chapter Amidst 60th Anniversary of Organization

Baltimore, Md. – Girl Scouts of Central Maryland (GSCM), a non-profit organization dedicated to building the next generation of women leaders by developing courage, confidence and character in girls and young women in grades K-12, is excited to announce its 2022-2023 Board of Directors, led by new Chair Julie Lenzer.

Lenzer has already established herself as a major contributor and organizer within GSCM, having started out as an at-large board member nearly a decade ago before she was elected as Chair of the Board of Directors. In the time she has served on the board, she has been an ardent advocate who has championed key organizational initiatives for the Council.

“Every member of our Board is completely aligned to this incredible mission. It has been a difficult few years with COVID-19, however our staff and volunteers did a great job of navigating through it with virtual activities to support programming for our girls,” said Lenzer. “As Chair, I will help amplify our mission and ensure every girl within our region, from Harford County to Carroll County, has access to joining a troop so they can be themselves and thrive both individually and as part of a greater group.”

As GSCM celebrates its 60th, Chair Lenzer said this next chapter is an especially crucial one in the organization’s history. This next chapter includes building the Camp of the Future by beginning renovations at Camp Woodlands, as well as implementing additional goals established for the long-term sustainability of the council.
