Dean of the School of the Sciences at Stevenson University
Dr. Susan Thompson Gorman is the Founding Dean of the School of the Sciences at Stevenson University, where her passion for STEM and her visionary leadership have taken the university’s natural, applied, and health science programs to new levels while simultaneously building relationships that serve the greater community.
One of Dr. Gorman’s most significant national achievements was in securing Stevenson’s selection as Maryland’s affiliate university for the Project Lead The Way® (PLTW®) Biomedical Sciences Program, for which the university was awarded funding by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). In 2007, SU was one of only two affiliate universities in the nation to launch teacher training for the biomedical sciences curriculum. In 2008, Dr. Gorman and her team received another grant from MSDE to develop an Academy of Health Professions program in Maryland, which also continues to support the preparation of a skilled STEM workforce.
Dr. Gorman is a founding member of the Baltimore County STEM Alliance, and has served on the Governor’s Workforce Investment Board, Center for Industry Initiatives (Biotechnology), the Career and Technology Education Task Force, the MSDE STEM Definition Design Team, as well as the Workforce Training and Education Committee of the Governor’s Maryland Life Sciences Advisory Board.

Ms. Lipkowitz’s dedication to mentoring extends back to her years as a student at Harvard University where she directed an afterschool program for underprivileged children and a peer counseling group. She also taught at a Washington, D.C. high school through Georgetown University Law Center’s Street Law Clinic while earning her law degree. Since receiving her J.D. in 2002, Ms. Lipkowitz has built a legal career focused on litigation involving contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, consumer class actions, mortgage fraud, lender liability, construction and products liability. As a partner in the Commercial Litigation Practice at Saul Ewing LLP, she has extensive experience in complex commercial litigation in various state and federal courts throughout Maryland and across the country representing clients from a broad range of industries, including financial, retail and telecommunications. She also serves as Chair of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. In addition to her demanding practice, Mrs. Lipkowitz makes time for mentoring, including supporting GEM2 (Girls’ Empowerment Mission2), which is a mentoring program she co-founded and is aimed at enriching the lives of diverse, female high school graduates who grew up in underserved Baltimore communities. Her dedication to her community has been recognized on multiple occasions, including through awards such as The Maryland Daily Record’s Top 100 Women in 2013; the National Bar Association and IMPACT’s award for the 2013 Nation’s Best Advocates: 40 Lawyers Under 40; The Maryland Daily Record’s Leading Women in 2010; and The Maryland Daily Record’s VIP List in 2010. In 2013, she was also selected to the Rising Stars list in Maryland Super Lawyers magazine. Ms. Lipkowitz serves on the Board of Directors of the Baltimore Urban Debate League, KIPP Baltimore, and Park Heights Renaissance.

Ms. Monica Mitchell has over 13 years experience in banking and financial education. Within her role with Wells Fargo, Ms. Mitchell serves as President of Wells Fargo’s Team Member Volunteer Chapter, responsible for coordinating group community service participation, community development outreach, as well as encouraging individual volunteer efforts for Wells Fargo’s 4,000+ Maryland team members. Ms. Mitchell also sits on the Wells Fargo Foundation Board which is dedicated to improving the community through corporate philanthropy combined with volunteer service.
Ms. Mitchell received the 2010, 2011 and 2012 Financial Education Awards from the Maryland Banker’s Association for enhancing financial education among Maryland’s Young Adults, Children, Adults and Seniors, The Daily Record’s 2011 VIP List, Successful by 40 Award and was named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women for 2012. In June 2012, Ms. Mitchell was honored by the Associated Black Charities with the “Icon” Award for her contributions in Corporate Leadership and Philanthropy. Ms. Mitchell is also currently part of the 2013 GBC LEADERship class.
Ms. Mitchell is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a BS in Business Administration. Ms. Mitchell serves on the boards of Junior Achievement of Central Maryland, Maryland Foster Youth Resource Center, and was most recently named board president for the Lillie May Carroll Jackson Charter School, a newly approved all-girls charter school serving grades 5-8 in Baltimore City. Ms. Mitchell volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, Paul’s Place and Operation Hope.

Molly Shattuck is the creator of the Vibrant Living Philosophy which focuses on helping others lead meaningful healthy lives. In recognition of her commitment to advocate a healthy lifestyle, she was appointed Healthy Food Ambassador in 2011 by former Distinguished Women’s Award honoree, Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and the United Way of Central Maryland. Recently Molly received the 43rd Annual Clementine Peterson Award from the United Way of Central Maryland.
Molly’s community involvement includes serving as a member of both the Board of Overseers for the Baltimore School for the Arts (BSA) and the National Advisory Board for The Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. She is also a founding member of the Board of Trustees for the National Children’s Museum, a Trustee of the United Way of Central Maryland, and an Advisory Board Member of Young Audiences of Maryland.
Prior to founding Molly Shattuck Vibrant Living, Molly worked for former Congressman Doug Walgren in Washington, DC, held positions in marketing at Alex. Brown & Sons, and served as a Center Director for Sylvan Learning Systems. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Ms. Ulrich and her staff of technology and operations professionals plan, deliver and maintain business solutions for Legg Mason colleagues around the world. During her 17 years at Legg Mason, she has held a variety of positions, including Director of Operations for Legg Mason Wood Walker (the former broker dealer) and Chief Development Officer for Legg Mason Technology Services.
Ms. Ulrich is a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, earning her Bachelor of Science in Economics, with concentrations in economics and marketing. She earned the Chartered Life Underwriter from the American College, and also holds the Series 27 (Fin Ops) and Series 99 FINRA registrations.
A 2009 graduate of the Greater Baltimore Committee’s LEADERship program, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Baltimore Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Board of Directors for the Maryland Chapter of the American Diabetes Association, and the Dean’s Business Advisory Council for the Merrick School of Business at the University of Baltimore. Ms. Ulrich is also a member of the Technology Advisory Group of the Walters Art Museum.
Ms. Ulrich volunteers with many organizations, including Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, where she was a troop leader for fourteen years.
