destinations

Discover your world! destinations is your chance to go somewhere different, meet interesting people, and try something new. Girls between the ages of 11 and 17 can travel
around the corner or around the globe to a destination. You will learn about yourself, about new
skills, and about your world.

Getting Started
Think you want to explore the world around you on a destination? Here’s how:

1. Attend a destinations Dish where you will get helpful hints about choosing a destination, the application process, and cost. You’ll also hear from girls just like you who have already had a destinations experience!

2. Check out the destinations webpage to get some general information and a list of this year’s destinations. This is also where you will download the application and reference forms. GSCM's early application deadline is November 17, and the late application deadline is January 27.

3. Complete one entire application for each destination to which you want to apply. You can use the same two references for every application, but you must write a different essay for each destination to which you are applying.

4. Turn in all completed applications to Allison Jakubczyk at ajakubczyk@gscm.org by the deadline, and wait to hear about your destination!

on another day we flew
in a four-seater plane to
Egg Island, where we
helped field biologists
approximate the number
of birds in certain areas.

We also went rafting
between glaciers, and
took turns paddling the
raft. Another day was
spent looking at Childs Glacier, learning about
global warming
and reviewing the
history of Alaska. "
