Who We Are

Girl Scouts is the largest organization in the world committed to girls. It is an organization whose sole purpose is to nurture and encourage character so that girls everywhere can discover the fun, friendship and power of girls together. There are 316 Girl Scout councils throughout the United States. Girl Scouts of Central Maryland is the 8th largest council among them. We serve almost 30,000 girls in nearly 2,500 troops and groups in Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties.

What We Do

Dedicated and committed volunteers play a key role in attracting and keeping girls in our programs. We have over 10,000 registered adult volunteers -- 450 of whom are lifetime Girl Scout members -- that are dedicated to girls and committed to the ideals of Girl Scouting. Volunteer opportunities are available to parents, grandparents, singles, and college students who have a sincere interest in helping young girls develop into strong and responsible women. Our staff and volunteers work hard to bring the fun and ideals of Girl Scouting to all interested girls living within our council area. In order to reach this diverse and vast population of girls, Girl Scout programs are offered during the school day, after school, evenings, weekends, at community and recreation centers, places of worship, teen centers and detention facilities.
