Day Camp T-shirt Order

This year each participant in council directed day camps will receive a day camp T-shirt. There is no additional cost for the shirt. Read your day camp application carefully and indicate the proper shirt size for your child. Should a camper register for more than one camp she will only receive one shirt, which should be ordered on the first camp registration.

Program Aide Opportunities

Girls who have completed seventh grade and the council’s Program Aide training may apply to be a Day Camp Program Aide. Interested Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts should complete the Day Camp Program Aide Application found in this brochure. There is a $30.00 fee (one time only payment) for each applicant.

Young women should feel free to apply to more than one, day camp program. All Program Aides must attend the required day camp staff training prior to camp. Program Aides will earn apprenticeship hours towards their Program Aide Patch. Don’t wait; apply early as slots fill quickly.

Placement of Girls in Day Camp Units

The Day Camp Director assigns girls to camper units. Placement is by school grade and the level of Girl Scouting in which they participate. When possible, and at the director’s discretion, a girls can be assigned to a unit with a single friend who meets the same placement criteria. Day camping is an experience where girls get to meet and make new friends.

Adult Staff Information

We need adults to serve as coordinators and unit staff members at each of the council-directed day camps. We also need activity leaders and health supervisors. Girl Scout leader experience is not a prerequisite for these positions. Adults working as day camp unit staff need only have the desire to work with children in helping to provide meaningful and exciting summer activities. Training and/or orientation will be provided for all adults working in these positions. Attendance at pre-camp training is required for all staff members. If we do not have enough staff committed to work at day camps when we reach the registration deadline, we must cancel the camp.

To Apply to Work at a Day Camp

Check the area on the day camp registration form to receive an application packet. If you have any questions about becoming a day camp volunteer, contact Billy Heinbuch at the Council Service Center – 410-358-9711 ext. 240.

Volunteers who work a full week of day camp have the opportunity to register one daughter at that camp at no cost.
