Girl Scout Leaders/Advisors are required to complete training within six months of appointment. Training consists of the following:
- Meet and Greet--This welcome session is conducted by your Service Unit Manager or Membership Specialist and will give you information specific to your geographic area. Contact her/him for details.
- Leadership in Girl Scouting-- This course is offered in a classroom setting or as a home study option. It is recommended that you take this course as soon as possible.
- Program Level-- Choose the age level course for the girls you are working with. These courses are offered in a classroom setting or as home study options (Daisy, Brownie, or Junior only).
Full descriptions of these courses appear in the course scheule. For other volunteer positions, give us a call and we will be happy to help you determine your training needs.
Volunteer Services also offers courses in First Aid/ CPR, Outdoor Training, Event Director Training and Enrichment Workshops. Pre-registration is required for all courses and workshops.
You can register online here for training. Adult Development registration forms can also be downloaded here or obtained through our Volunteer Resource Center. Please follow registration procedures to ensure that you are properly registered in the course you would like to attend. Completed registration forms can also be mailed or faxed to the GSCM Council Service Center no less than 2 weeks before a class. Class fees, if required, need to accompany the registration forms. Be sure to register early as courses fill quickly.
Ultimately, our goal is to provide our girls with the best possible program in a safe environment. Our intention is to provide adult volunteers with the training necessary to ensure excellent girl programming, safety and protection.
