What is a Trainer?
A Council Trainer is a volunteer who teaches courses to other adult Girl Scout volunteers. Council Trainers teach volunteers the basics of leadership, program ideas, outdoor skills, and other enrichment courses. Trainers choose their own areas of expertise, whether it be building fires, teaching songs, or instructing leaders on troop government.
Why would I want to become a Trainer?
Trainers are essential to Girl Scouting—-troop leaders need to know the basics about girls and Girl Scouts before they can lead a troop effectively. You, as a trainer, provide an opportunity for leaders to get involved with Girl Scouts and become comfortable leading girls. Trainers provide leadership for troop leaders and continue the progression of leadership throughout all levels of Girl Scouts.
