Any girl between the ages of 5 and 17 can become a Girl Scout by accepting the Girl Scout Promise and Law and paying the $10 annual membership dues. These dues go to the National Organization and pay for accident insurance covering member participation in approved Girl Scout activities, program research and resources, training, and services to councils. Financial assistance is available to cover the cost of the national membership dues for those who need it.
Adults who meet applicable membership requirements can also be Girl Scouts. Visit our VolunteerSection for more information on how to help the girls in your area.
A girl can be a Girl Scout in many different ways. She can:
Join a troop/group with a group of girls and adults from the local area.
Register individually as a Juliette, and participate in council-wide events and opportunities. Sign up for Girl Scout Camp including resident and day camp.
Join a short-term interest group focusing on special topics and areas of interest such as careers, the arts, or sports.
