Camp Ilchester

Located in Ellicott City, Camp Ilchester provides multiple opportunities for program activities, camping and meetings. This 19-acre site is home to the Clementine Peterson Activity Center, the perfect venue for meetings, seminars, training and indoor programs with its large meeting rooms and commercial kitchen. Camp Ilchester was acquired by the Girl Scouts in 1949.

FROM THE BALTIMORE BELTWAY (WEST) Take Exit 16 West onto Interstate 70 or exit on Route 40 west to Route 29. Take Route 29 South towards Columbia/Washington D.C Exit on Route 103 East and turn left at the light on top of bridge onto Route 103 East. Travel 2.7 miles.Turn left at 5th traffic light onto Ilchester Road. Travel one mile to the property entrance on the left.

FROM THE BALTIMORE BELTWAY (EAST) Take Interstate 95 South to Route 100 West. Take Exit 4, Route 103 West. At the top of the ramp, turn right and proceed through the traffic light onto Montgomery Road/Route 103 West. Travel about one mile, then turn right on Ilchester Road at traffic light. One mile to the camp on the left.

FROM I-895 Take I-895 South; take Exit 1 to Elkridge/Route 1 South. On Route 1 South continue to the 2nd
traffic light-Montgomery Road. Turn right on Montgomery Road to Landing Road, about 2 miles. Turn right on Landing Road and go to the end. Turn left onto Ilchester Road. Camp entrance is 1/2 mile on the right.
Additional Parking: A few hundred yards on the gravel drive past the Peterson Activity Center beside Valley View Lodge.

FROM THE SOUTH (WASHINGTON, D.C.) North on Route 29 to Route 100 East, proceed to exit 1A (Longgate/Route 103) to the end of the road at the light turn right and follow Route 103 East. At Ilchester Road turn left; the camp is one mile on the left. Note: Route 100 "Exits 2 and 4" will also lead to Route 103.

FROM THE SOUTH (GLEN BURNIE AREA) Take Route 100 West to Route 103N "Exit 4" (Meadow Ridge Road), at the top of the ramp turn right and proceed through the traffic light onto Montgomery Road/Route 103 West. Travel about 1 mile than turn right onto Ilchester Road. 1 mile to camp on the left.

FROM THE SOUTH (LAUREL AREA) North on Route 1 to Route 103 (Meadow Ridge Road). Turn left and proceed west through two round abouts at Route 100 and a traffic light at Montgomery Road/Route 103, continue one mile and turn right onto Ilchester Road. One mile to camp on the left. If traveling on Interstate 295 and 95, take Route 100 West to exit 4 (Route 103), following directions listed above for the Glen Burnie area.

Parking: Drive a few hundred yards on the gravel drive past the Peterson Activity Center. Park beside Valley View Lodge

NOTICE: Recreational Fires

To All Concerned:

All fires at Camp Ilchester must comply with Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services. Council will acquire the necessary burn permits on a monthly basis and post the permit at Ilchester on the bulletin board. This is a two page permit. Please note requirement 13 that states that the individual responsible for the fire must notify the on duty Fire Supervisor of Howard County at (410)313-2929 before and after the fire.

Fires at Camp Ilchester are only permitted in the designated fire circles and in accordance with the Burn Permit guidelines. Although Girl Scouts of Central Maryland maintains these fire sites, this does not relieve the person responsible for the fire of the responsibility to comply with the burn permit guidelines or for cleaning up the area after the fire.
