Five Proven Success Tips

"Sure-Fire" Steps to Group Cookie Sale Success:

Swing Into Action!

1.  Set and Share Troop Goals!

Have all the girls give their ideas on what trips and activities the group could do with the cookie sale proceeds and set a GROUP GOAL.

Visualize the Group's Goals.  Cut out photos to place on the Group's Goal Poster so girls can clearly see what they are working towards. In addition, customers will notice the group's goal if girls write them in the space provided at the top of the order card.
Be sure to have the girls refer back to their cookie order card from last year if they participated in the cookie sale.
Everyone loves Girl Scout Cookies and they will buy more if the girls can describe the group's goals before asking for the order.
2.  Set and Share Personal Goals!

The group goal will not be successful if EACH girl does not set a personal goal.

Encourage girls to set personal goals, first and foremost to feel a sense of personal satisfaction and achievement and to practice teamwork. Whether they are package goals, developmental goals, personal goals put the girl in charge! They reflect what the girls believes in, what she wants to see happen, and what she is willing to work hard to achieve.
Need ideas? Suggestions? Ask Geneva, contact the Volunteer Resource Center  for ideas and suggestions to help motivate girls in your group.
3.  Hold a Family Meeting!

Have the girls invite their families to a special cookie sale meeting.

The girls could "star" in their own skits about the cookie sale and their cookie sale goals.
Parents will appreciate knowing all the group activities cookie sale proceeds support.
Be sure to educate the parents regarding the award items the girls earn for participation in the cookie sale.
Stress the importance of family interaction and participation with their daughter to help her SWING INTO ACTION and meet her personal and group goals. The most successful Girl Scouts are those who overcome their fear of asking people they do not know to buy cookies. Family interaction is a perfect opportunity to practice selling techniques.
4.  Sell Beyond Family and Friends!

Selling to friends and family members is a great start for girls, however it is not the only option. Brainstorm with girls on ideas to reach customers in your community.

Some great opportunities exist throughout the central Maryland region, whether door to door sales in your neighborhood or booth sales at the local shopping center, video store or grocery store.
Door to door sales is a great way to promote the cookie sale while building sales and relationships in the community. Be sure to check out the DOOR HANGER and use this valuable marketing tool when selling door to door!

5.  Check Your Progress!

Monitor progress throughout the sale to see how close the girls are to achieving the group and their individual goals.

Have the girls share their ideas of what is working best for them

Follow these 5 proven steps and your group will.........
