This year's Girl Scout Cookie Sale activity theme is a blast from the
past! Swinging girls back to the Swing music era of music and dance from
the late 1930's. This year is also marks a time when another new movement
was on the rise - the Girl
Scout cookie sale! We are proud to celebrate the 90th
anniversary of Girl Scouting, this year's cookie promotion is a nostalgic
look at the past, as well as a very forward-looking view of what Girl
Scouting is about today.
The animal mascot this year
is the white-handed gibbon found high in the canopy of forests in
Southeast Asia. This little acrobat really know how to swing! Watching it
swing gracefully from branch to branch is an awesome sight. It can
actually jump more than 30 feet with a single swing and change direction
in mid-air! The gibbon's rhythmic hand over hand maneuver is called
brachiation. For more gibbon fun facts watch the cookie sale mascot
segment on this year's Troop
Training video.
