What is SHARE?
SHARE is an annual campaign through which we ask the families of our Girl Scouts to make a contribution to Girl Scouts of Central Maryland. We ask that families give what they can to support GSCM and share in our common objective – To help our girls grow strong through the many benefits available to them as Girl Scouts.
SHARE is an opportunity for you to make a financial investment into the future of your daughter(s), your community, the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, and our nation.
Girl Scout programs develop courage, confidence and character that will build America’s next generation of women leaders. It is only through your generosity that our programs can continue to empower women and teach them the life skills necessary to be successful as adults.
100% of your SHARE gift remains local and is put directly back into the operations of our council through program, membership and volunteer activities and materials.
Please give what you can.
Please give generously.

What are SHARE contributions used for?
All contributions to the SHARE campaign become part of the council’s operating budget and support every facet of the Girl Scout program.
- SHARE gifts support this web site, which offers Girl TEK, featuring online activities for Girl Scouts, and GIRLS ONLY, a section full of fun and exciting computer activities for all Girl Scout program levels.
- SHARE contributions pay for the volunteer training required by your daughter’s Girl Scout leader and her troop’s first aider.
- SHARE funds support the maintenance and upkeep of GSCM’s four camp properties, and helped to construct the Challenge Ropes Course at Camp Conowingo that teaches our Girl Scouts teamwork and learning through adventure.
- SHARE donations provide grants that allow underprivileged Girl Scouts to attend a space-themed day camp session or take a trip to a museum.
- SHARE contributions allowed GSCM to develop new and innovative programming such as Business Wise and Science Wonders.
We pay to register our daughter in Girl Scouts every year and also pay regular dues to her troop. Why should we give money to the SHARE Campaign?
The annual registration fee is sent directly to our national office, while the dues you pay to your daughter’s troop stay right there, within the troop, to pay for the trips your Girl Scout takes, the activities she participates in, the badges she earns and much more. Your gift to the SHARE campaign is important because it makes Girl Scouting possible for your daughter and for all girls in Central Maryland!
We buy cookies and help our daughter with the Girl Scout Cookie Sale every year. Isn’t that enough?
The Girl Scout Cookie Sale is a program activity that teaches our girls skills in communication, marketing, goal-setting and budgeting. It also serves as a fundraising opportunity for Girl Scout troops. The Girl Scout Cookie Sale provides only part of our council’s revenue. And as the cost of the cookies and the expenses of the sale continue to rise, Girl Scouts of Central Maryland must seek to raise funds from additional sources.
Don’t you get money from the United Way?
While we do receive funding from the United Way, contributions have decreased dramatically and cover only a fraction of our operating costs each year. With more and more crisis agencies turning to the United Way for help, funding for prevention agencies, like Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, is limited.
How can I support the SHARE campaign?
You can contribute to the SHARE campaign when you complete your Girl Scout’s annual registration form. Or, you can contact Girl Scouts of Central Maryland’s Fund Development department at (410) 358-9711 Ext. 225 for information on additional ways to give.
