Year Round Events
GSCM Chorus (Girls 5-17 and Adults, $10 per person)
Register by October 15, 2010, (although newcomers are
welcome throughout the year)
If you love to sing, this is the activity for you! We perform all over central Maryland – parades, malls, festivals, and Girl Scout activities. We rehearse on Sunday afternoons at Clementine Peterson Activity Center and in eastern Baltimore County as well, five or six times a year, with a gala overnight rehearsal at Peterson Center on Friday, November 5. Travel Pathway

If you or your troop has ever wondered what Girl Scouting is like in other countries or right here in other parts of the United States, this is your chance to find out by joining a council-sponsored or nationally sponsored Girl Scout trip. Traveling builds leadership skills and cross cultural understanding and it is an exciting way to experience the world. Have a small, local excursion or plan for a longer national or international adventure with your troop or group. Participants must be registered Girl Scouts. Group sizes are limited to 12–16 girls with two adults.

Girls will have opportunities to participate in various money-earning activities and events; including the annual Cookie Program. Space is limited so sign up and get connected to some great travel opportunities!

Nature Tours (All Levels , $5 per person)

Visit our Nature Center and pet our Corn and Eastern King Snakes, see a tarantula close-up, watch how a bee colony makes honey, and take a walk outside on our nature trail! Nature Tours can be scheduled by appointment any day after school and on available weekends. Nature Work Days (All Levels)
By Appointment at the Caitlin Dunbar Nature Center at Camp Ilchester & Camp Conowingo
Volunteers of all ages are invited to pitch in to help with wildlife and enhance the Caitlin Dunbar Nature Center and the surrounding camp grounds. The tasks vary from month to month and will change with the seasons. Come dressed for the outdoors, bring your work gloves, and help clear the nature paths, rake leaves, get soils ready for gardening, and a variety of other tasks. Program Aide Training: Basic

This leadership workshop will teach girls the basic aspects of becoming a Program Aide (responsibilities of leadership, Girl Scout basics, growth and development, the group process, etc). Center for Educational Outreach), play with some robots, build your own
playground, design your own toys, and learn how to survive in the wild like a Girl
Scout engineer! This day will feature many career exploration opportunities.

Girls will create their own stuffed animals as they learn simple drawing techniques using pencils, markers, crayons, or pieces of chalk to make different types of lines and shapes. After their animals are completed, they will share their drawings and/or their stuffed animals with one another. Each girl will receive a Noah’s Ark Workshop animal with birth certificate, T-shirt, wishing star and fun patch. The artist animal outfit will be available for purchase ($12).

Additionally, this project will work toward various petals and badges.

*There are two Mandatory Pre-Sessions for Adult Camping Certification (adults only). Specific locations and dates to be announced. To become Adult Camping Certified, adults must attend both mandatory pre-sessions and the overnight session. The Outdoor Program Staff will teach introduction to camping skills to girls while the adult leaders work with trainers from the Volunteer Services department to earn their “Let’s Go Camping” Certification. This is an excellent opportunity to earn this certification with experienced trainers and bring the girls along to discover the joys of camping with trained staff.

Girls will create their own stuffed animals as they learn simple drawing techniques using pencils, markers, crayons, or pieces of chalk to make different types of lines and shapes. After their animals are completed, they will share their drawings and/or their stuffed animals with one another. Each girl will receive a Noah’s Ark Workshop animal with birth certificate, T-shirt, wishing star and fun patch. The artist animal outfit will be available for purchase ($12).

This hands-on arts program will have you learning the science of ceramics as you delve into the chemistry of clay and glazes. You will create molds from real cookies with ceramic mold plaster and then use our molds to make ceramic cookies! You will have the opportunity to create 100th anniversary tiles and/or create artwork to donate to our annual online Girl Scout auction!

Participants learn the five freedoms of the First Amendment and how women suffrage activists exercised those rights. Come share a day with friends to celebrate what truly makes you great! We’ll talk all about you–your life, things you like to do and other important issues like nutrition, peer pressure and exercise. Activities will get you moving and games will earn you some very cool prizes. There will even be workshops for adults.

All attendees are asked to bring a bottle of water and to wear comfortable, appropriate clothing and footwear for physical activities. Girl Scouts and adults also should bring their health history cards and signed photo release forms.(Note: Separate sessions will be held for girls and adults.)

The A $10 registration fee (for girls and adults) includes a participation patch and lunch. When registering, please indicate if you or one of your Girl Scouts has
food allergies or dietary restrictions.

This program is limited to 100 Juniors and 50 Cadettes.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) invite you to experience science up close and personal. Experts in various fields will demonstrate how exciting science can be. Learn about metals and alloys and rainbows and mirages. Hands-on sessions will enable you to watch electric currents, analyze the structure of crystals, find out how to see invisible light, and watch how bananas, hotdogs, and metals behave at temperatures minus 195 degrees Celsius. Bring a bagged lunch and beverage. Patch provided.

Learn the sport of rowing with coaches and members of Annapolis Junior Rowing Association. Spend time on the water and on land learning boat handling and rowing technique, general conditioning on the ergometer (rowing machine), and land-based workouts. End the week with a short race to test your rowing skill!

Celebrate the 100th anniversary year in the place where it all began, Savannah, Georgia—the birthplace of Juliette Low. The Annapolis Sailing School has tailored a sailing course just for Girl Scout Seniors, Ambassadors, and their FRIENDS! The course is over two days and is a perfect blend of “intensive instruction and relaxed fun on the water”.

Aberdeen IronBirds SHARE Fundraiser
7:05 pm, Ripken Stadium, Aberdeen, MD
All ages and families
Cost is $15 per person. Please note: a ticket to this game is included if you attend the June 2 Aberdeen IronBirds Campout.

Get a free IronBirds baseball cap for ever ticket sold and a special patch for every Girl Scout. Girl Scouts are invited to participate in a paradeon the field. Stay for fireworks after the game. Tickets are limited!
