What We Do
“The work of today is the history of tomorrow and we are its makers.”
– Juliette Gordon Low
(Girl Scouts founder)
This sentiment lives on today through traditional and new programs, like the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, that prepare girls for all facets of their lives. The new Girl Scout Leadership Experience program model is relevant and appealing to techno-savvy, generation-Y teens and all girls in-between and incorporates the Girl Scout Mission and Promise into programs and activities that challenge, educate, encourage and support girls as they develop teambuilding skills, strong values, and the decision-making skills to become socially conscience leaders.
Girl Scouts provides a variety of Pathways to these girl-centered leadership Journeys.
Through their Journey experiences, girls are empowered as they develop courage, confidence and character--the traits of successful leaders. To accomplish this, the new Girl Scout Leadership Experience programs focus on three keys to leadership:
Discover: Girls understand and discover themselves and their values and use this knowledge to explore the world.
Connect: Girls connect with issues they care about or that inspire them and team with others locally and globally about these issues and topics
Take Action: Girls use their knowledge and their connections to act and to make the world a better place.
